Rhesa Hawkins Barksdale is a Senior United States Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and the University of Mississippi Law School, as well as a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War. He served as a law clerk to Justice Byron White and, as a judge himself, had a close friendship with his colleague Judge Reavley for almost 31 years.
