Judicature is a scholarly journal focused on the judiciary, the administration of justice, and the rule of law. Published by the Bolch Judicial Institute of Duke Law School, Judicature’s mission is to create a forum for judges, practitioners, and academics to share ideas, best practices, perspectives, and opinions, and in doing so provide insight into the issues and ideas that are shaping the judiciary and the administration of justice.
We publish a print edition three times per year containing articles by judges, scholars, and practitioners on topics such as the rule of law, law reform, emerging legal issues, challenges in the legal system and judiciary, judicial independence, and the daily work of a judge, as well as empirical research that informs our understanding of the judiciary. Judicature is mailed free of charge to nearly 5,500 judges across the United States, including all Article III judges, federal magistrate judges, and state supreme court judges. Thanks to our generous sponsors, we are currently able to mail complimentary copies to state appellate judges and commercial court judges [if you are an appellate or commercial court judge and are not receiving a copy, you can join the list by emailing us]. Our subscribers include law schools, libraries, lawyers, scholars, students, and other leaders who are interested in learning about the judiciary.
